And So The Story Ends

Good Morning World and thanks for tuning in to the penultimate post day here on Planet Magnet. After this post there will be only one more and that won’t be for a couple of weeks as I tell the story of my walk along Britain’s oldest Road.

That means this is post number 499!

Quite an incredible feat but one that I suppose I am quite proud to have achieved.

I have always said that I would share my life with you guys for the next 499 posts, after which I would walk the Ridgeway for the Charity HENRY and make my 500th and final post about that very walk.

It is hard to consider the person I was when I started out on the journey. Some people don’t even recognise me as I have changed so much physically, others don’t recognise me because I have changed so much mentally.

Regardless of which is more significant I think we must all agree that since my surgery and subsequent life change, this person…

Is no longer anything like this person….

If we consider way back when I started this little blog after advice to do so, I was incredibly unfit, unhappy, lonely, I was letting life pass me by and I was disengaged.

No more though.

What a difference 18mths and the help and support of medical professionals and all of you guys here on Word Press who come to read my words every day. Some of you read quietly and fly under the radar and some of you read and comment and encourage. Regardless of which camp you fall into, I appreciate you all so very very much and I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart.

You guys have made the incredible challenge of 499 posts a possibility and I am so happy that I have completed what I set out to do I think all I need do now is wish myself Bon Voyage, Bon Chance and Bon Temps for the next week of walking. You will be able to follow my updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram…..

So until I write and publish the story of my walk, I shall leave you with these words from T.S Elliots Little Gidding (pointed TO me by Osyth from Half Baked in Paradise but here mixed up by ME) and hopefully they will sum up all I have been trying to say…

“To make an end is to make a beginning so always remember last years thoughts belong to last years language whereas next years words await another voice”

So ’till the last time,

Stay out of the fridge.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow this link and donate to my just giving page.

And I Think To Myself What A Wonderful (Cyber) World

Almost in the words of the great Louis Armstrong, I would just like to say what a wonderful Word Press world we live in. This community is a warm and caring place with so many like minded souls all trying to find their way on this hectic road that is life.

I must confess to recently losing my way. My dedication to my blog has dropped, my dedication to my training has dropped (well, fallen off of a cliff if I am honest) and my dedication to eating healthily has definitely waned along with them.

Yes, I am still walking but not the huge distances I once was. Yes I am still blogging but to my mind not at the same level I started out at and yes I still eat well, but some rubbish has crept in alongside the heathy and I am feeling as though I am letting myself down somewhat.

Reports, Reports, Reports

After yesterdays post being such a hit with so many people and even with my own belief system, I am proving to be somewhat at a loss of what to write today to be honest. I could go on more about how brilliant I feel because of the embracement of my new life and opportunity. I could wax lyrical about the support I have had and the surgeons who made yesterday’s post possible but if I did I think I would be going over old ground.

Instead today I shall tell you that I am absolutely WORN OUT after my day of perpetual motion and would therefore ask you to read the exercise report stuff below my food diary. I know some of you usually do and some of you don’t but it is certainly worth a read today when you consider that five months ago I could barely walk up my stairs and yet yesterday I spent over two and a half ACTIVE hours in the gym.

Once More Unto The Breach, Dear Friends, Once More*

Yes I know Henry V is a little heavy for the title on a Friday but regular readers will soon understand to what I referring when you get to paragraph 3.

As Friday is finally here and the weekend is once again upon us (I know we still have the final day of the week to contend with) I am in a great mood even though I for one have quite a busy day planned as there are several meetings I must attend after my exercise. To this end I have woken early to take on my protein shake and supplements followed an hour later by my scrambled egg on toast before I set off to walk the dog and then head for the gym. I do this as it shall mean I get the requisite amount of calories and nutrients prior to exercising which in turn means that I can exercise without feeling as though I have completely run out of puff (well thats the idea anyway!)

Tasty Tuesday…. It’s Back Again!

Morning friends and thanks for tuning in!

Once again, please allow me to apologise for the issue that beset my beautiful blog yesterday and delayed you reading my nonsense until later in the day. It turns out I was rather dim and had simply become confused in my pain ridden and tired state on Sunday. Still, I managed to resolve it with only a few extra hours having ticked away.

So welcome back to Tasty Tuesday and today we have a treat for you that comes part from my imagination and part from a recipe I found on the inter web on a site by the name of Dukan Diet Meals

It may seem a little out of season but as many of you know, here in the U.K we can have brilliant sunshine one minute and lashing rain and dropping temperatures the next, meaning we must turn on the heating and fill our bellies with delicious stews!

Tracking My Progress.

Recently I have been asked on several occasions how my weight loss is progressing and some people (in fact nearly all) are quite surprised when I say I have no idea.

They cannot quite grasp the fact that I am not allowing myself to be obsessed by my weight loss figures.

Don’t forget, the last time I was checking myself on a regular basis, I cocked up all of the figures to such a degree that I was convinced that some weeks I “put on” weight instead of “losing”. However, it turned out that I had actually made a complete mess of my figures all along and when I finally let professionals take care of it, the correct readings showed a loss of nearly one stone in weight! (I think it was 13lbs or 5.9kgs) To this end I believe it is wiser for me to allow myself to be measured at certain points of my body and weighed on the same scale all by the same person each time so we have an absolute reading and not  “Cameron’s interpretation”
