And So The Story Ends

Good Morning World and thanks for tuning in to the penultimate post day here on Planet Magnet. After this post there will be only one more and that won’t be for a couple of weeks as I tell the story of my walk along Britain’s oldest Road.

That means this is post number 499!

Quite an incredible feat but one that I suppose I am quite proud to have achieved.

I have always said that I would share my life with you guys for the next 499 posts, after which I would walk the Ridgeway for the Charity HENRY and make my 500th and final post about that very walk.

It is hard to consider the person I was when I started out on the journey. Some people don’t even recognise me as I have changed so much physically, others don’t recognise me because I have changed so much mentally.

Regardless of which is more significant I think we must all agree that since my surgery and subsequent life change, this person…

Back Camera

With My Mum!

Is no longer anything like this person….

If we consider way back when I started this little blog after advice to do so, I was incredibly unfit, unhappy, lonely, I was letting life pass me by and I was disengaged.

No more though.

What a difference 18mths and the help and support of medical professionals and all of you guys here on Word Press who come to read my words every day. Some of you read quietly and fly under the radar and some of you read and comment and encourage. Regardless of which camp you fall into, I appreciate you all so very very much and I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart.

You guys have made the incredible challenge of 499 posts a possibility and I am so happy that I have completed what I set out to do I think all I need do now is wish myself Bon Voyage, Bon Chance and Bon Temps for the next week of walking. You will be able to follow my updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram…..

So until I write and publish the story of my walk, I shall leave you with these words from T.S Elliots Little Gidding (pointed TO me by Osyth from Half Baked in Paradise but here mixed up by ME) and hopefully they will sum up all I have been trying to say…

“To make an end is to make a beginning so always remember last years thoughts belong to last years language whereas next years words await another voice”

So ’till the last time,

Stay out of the fridge.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow this link and donate to my just giving page.

A Final Video Blog Farewell.

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.

Today we start the week with just 6 more posts (including this one) remaining until I leave for my epic walk where I shall record the final chapter of this blog by telling you all about my journey along the Ridgeway.

However, today I shall simply be talking about the blog and how I would never have dreamed I would ever reach the stage that I have today including all other sundry items along the way….

So carry on and watch, see what you can see and let me know what you think in the comments….

‘Till tomorrow,

Stay out of the fridge.

P.S Don’t forget to follow this link and donate to my just giving page…..

Well We Are Still Waiting…

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.

Today sees the British weather back to it’s usual tricks with the sun a long forgotten memory as it has rained continually for the past three days. Still, nothing that we aren’t used to and if it does all of it’s raining this month then at least there will be no more raining next month when I am walking……

Yes that’s right.

You heard me correctly.

Although I am STILL waiting my appointments with both the Blood people and my G.P, I have decided that there will be a walk starting on June the 17th from Ivinghoe Beacon and I would love as many people to come along as can possibly manage it. It would be great if you walked a little way with me but I will understand fully if you simply want to wave me off whilst muttering “good riddance and glad to see the back of him” under your breath… 😉

Yes, They’re Stereotypes, There Must Be More To Life.

Good morning folks and thanks for tuning in.

As regular readers will know, sometimes I find it difficult to find things related to my blog so that I may write about them. Let’s face it, there is only so much that can be written about on the subject of weight loss. Of course there are always sensationalised stories in the press about how an obese person supposedly lost a remote control in the folds of their flesh or how a kitten was discovered in the neither regions of a large lady but whether this is true or not, it simply seeks to reinforce the negative lazy stereotype of the morbidly obese and overweight.

I try to stay away from these stories and as such find them only too easily, such as the one I wrote about on Wednesday.

As you know I spend most of my day sat in front of this computer writing either this blog or any one of my number of current projects (although the novel is taking a bit of a precedent at the moment…!) and therefore am exposed to an immense amount of dross pushed down my internet feed, the bulk of which appears to be aimed at the worlds obsession with celebrity and what they look like or how much they weigh.

It is all so very depressing to think that someone could possibly get amusement from reading about how a celebrity (most of whom I have never heard of by the way) has had a botched piece of plastic surgery, a terrible tattoo or has piled on the pounds – or equally has lost them. But that is unfortunately the world we live in.

All Work And No Play

Morning world. How is it all going with you?

Well I trust?

Over here in Magnet Land things are taking a turn for the better (?) with the advent of working to a new timetable.

It feels quite odd because I haven’t worked to a timetable since I was in school but in many ways it seems the most natural thing in the world to do (and they say conditioning doesn’t happen in schools!). All I need do is glance at the top of my screen and it tells me very simply exactly what I should be doing at that moment in time, courtesy of an app called iTimeTable 2 and very clever it is too.

I’ll Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Morning everybody out there in cyber land.

Hope you like the picture, I struggled a long time to find something that went along with the friends banner without having a picture of Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox et all and I think by now you probably all know I am a bit of a sucker for the puppy pictures… What a softy 😉

So then, to what does my title refer? Well it’s simple. Yesterday I posted a blog about the weight I had lost and the clothes size’s I had dropped and the feedback was great. It is small showing’s of support like this that make the whole experience of the operation and recovery, worth while. As I have said many times, it was not an easy choice to make and will be a relatively hard slog keeping to it. This is becoming more apparent as time goes by because although my desires are reduced dramatically, I still get them in passing spurts and in a way I am sad to think that when I see a Pizza I know I shall never have it again in the quantities that I once used to and in a strange way I mourn it which is a very odd thing to try to explain. I no longer have any desire to eat half of a 10″ Pizza in one go but the thought still perversely rings in my mind until I dismiss it, this is something that can be done very easily for which I am truly thankful. This is also made easier by the likes and comments from you guys that spur me on to follow the diet even if there is no real choice but to do so, as I now only have a banana sized stomach as opposed to a grapefruit sized one since it was reduced by cutting it away and removing the excess.

A Goal Without A Plan Is Just A Wish

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (29 June 1900—31 July 1944) was a French writer and aviator. He has been cited in many quotations, the above being just one of them, but never a truer word spoken. I could have also used the famous Benjamin Franklin quote as shown in the picture, but I think you guys are getting the picture the same way I did. Getting this picture however, really got me thinking about what I should be doing with this idea for spreading the word on Bariatric Surgery and also it got me thinking about my own commercial writing and how I need to plan so much more than I do.

So, after Saturdays comments I have decided I will need to be pro active in this if I want to move the whole thing forward.
