And So The Story Ends

Good Morning World and thanks for tuning in to the penultimate post day here on Planet Magnet. After this post there will be only one more and that won’t be for a couple of weeks as I tell the story of my walk along Britain’s oldest Road.

That means this is post number 499!

Quite an incredible feat but one that I suppose I am quite proud to have achieved.

I have always said that I would share my life with you guys for the next 499 posts, after which I would walk the Ridgeway for the Charity HENRY and make my 500th and final post about that very walk.

It is hard to consider the person I was when I started out on the journey. Some people don’t even recognise me as I have changed so much physically, others don’t recognise me because I have changed so much mentally.

Regardless of which is more significant I think we must all agree that since my surgery and subsequent life change, this person…

Back Camera

With My Mum!

Is no longer anything like this person….

If we consider way back when I started this little blog after advice to do so, I was incredibly unfit, unhappy, lonely, I was letting life pass me by and I was disengaged.

No more though.

What a difference 18mths and the help and support of medical professionals and all of you guys here on Word Press who come to read my words every day. Some of you read quietly and fly under the radar and some of you read and comment and encourage. Regardless of which camp you fall into, I appreciate you all so very very much and I thank you all very much from the bottom of my heart.

You guys have made the incredible challenge of 499 posts a possibility and I am so happy that I have completed what I set out to do I think all I need do now is wish myself Bon Voyage, Bon Chance and Bon Temps for the next week of walking. You will be able to follow my updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram…..

So until I write and publish the story of my walk, I shall leave you with these words from T.S Elliots Little Gidding (pointed TO me by Osyth from Half Baked in Paradise but here mixed up by ME) and hopefully they will sum up all I have been trying to say…

“To make an end is to make a beginning so always remember last years thoughts belong to last years language whereas next years words await another voice”

So ’till the last time,

Stay out of the fridge.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow this link and donate to my just giving page.

Everything, Will Be Better In The Morning…

Good afternoon folks and thanks for tuning in!

Yes, I know, that’s right, I said good AFTERNOON!

And do you know what, I really don’t mind one bit!

Yesterday was my last day on the writing course in Oxford and as ever by the time the day was over my head was so full I was almost in a catatonic daze. In a way I am glad that it is over but also a bit gutted that it has finished. The lecturer, Julie Hearn was an absolute star. Very knowledgeable, sharp as a tack and as smart as they come. She really does know her craft and if I can have taken anything away from the course then I am hoping it is to be a trifle more fluid in what I write – You see it turns out that just because I know what is going on in my descriptions, it doesn’t necessarily mean the reader does!! And also that I need to be a little more intense in personalising someones experience, making the reader feel what the subject is feeling.

Pretty good things to learn I think.

Gratitude Is NOT Gratification

As I have muted several times in the past, gratification is the world we live in. Everyone wants something and they want it now. They believe it will make them happy and believe it will change their lives. Sure it might do for an instant. That latest piece of retail therapy might make you feel good for a moment.

But they are not fulfilling. They are shallow and empty.

If we really want to be happy, we need to be grateful because when we are grateful we are happy with our lot. When we are happy with our lot then life is so much better for the soul, the mind and the body.

Morning bloggers WBFM here, Chef de Cheffie Spectacular 🙂

Well, maybe I should let you be the judge of that after trying this little belter of a recipe…

So what do I have for you today?

Hey Good Lookin’ What You Got Cookin’?

How’s about cooking something up for me…?

So yesterday I was given some lessons in cooking good, clean healthy and filling food on a budget. Now please do not think that this is turning into a food blog and that I am going to be doing recipes everyday, this will not be the case. The recipes I shall list are as much for me as for you because unless I perform the task of writing them down, I shall simply forget and if I am writing them down, I may as well share them…

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

I’ve got no mind to worry…..

Morning everyone and a happy Monday to you all!

Did you have a good weekend? I did and I didn’t. I had a great night a the quiz (we won by the way) and then on Saturday I was so bloody lazy, it was incrediible that I even remembered to breath. No gym, no walking the dog, just plenty of sofa surfing and lots of Zzzz’s. And do you know the best thing? The best thing was that at day two of doing nothing, I didn’t feel guilty at all, I just felt tired. I was so looking forward to getting into my bed at the end of the night so I could get back to reading my book, I even went up the metaphorical big wooden hill to Bedfordshire earlier than normal. So well rested, I expected to get up today full of beans and get out there doing stuff. But that wasn’t the case, something was amiss and although I managed to take the dog on a little walk, it wasn’t anywhere near enough to get the old blood pumping so tomorrow I will make sure there is a good yomp and one that I take pictures of so I can share it all with you guys tomorrow.

Watch this space.
