Here Comes Another Winter, Waiting For Eutopia.

Waiting For Hell To Freeze Over*

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here in Planet Magnet. I trust all is well in your world and that the week is barrelling along nicely for you. Here in the U.K, the rain is back (what else!) after five days of sunshine, so having had our summer I figure we start preparing for the winter to come… 😉

Only joking on that font guys, however, Heartland by The, The seemed like the perfect lyric to use given that when yesterday I spoke to a friend of mine (The Chimp from The Lonely Author) he suggested I write what my Eutopia might look like given that I am now over a year past my surgery date and the fact my life has changed so dramatically in that short period of time. That I have become such a different man over the past several years of trials and tribulations. That I am still scared and excited in equal measure of what is to come in my life. That I am surrounded by more love in my life than I have experienced for a long time, yet I feel lonely on a daily basis.

Now I should put a warning here, because if any of you are not in the mood for my truth then I suggest you stop reading now, plus it is nearly 2000 words long so you might struggle a little looking for a quick read….

I am always honest with this blog yet I do confess that am still selective about what I write and today I write exactly how I feel and make no apologies for it.

So where was I? Oh yes, my own Eutopia. Or put quite simply, where would my ideal life be at this moment in time?

I know it might sound fatuous to do such a thing but it is in our dreams that we create our future (or some semblance of it) and it is only by daring to dream do we ever achieve our ability to move on.

A Slight Change Of Plan To The Scheduled Programming

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.

Today I was going to be sharing a post that was going to lay out all of my requirements for the next stage of the walk and ask if you might all get involved.

However.

I made a mistake.

I had forgotten that I had yet another appearance on TV for you guys to watch.

So in the interest of fairness, why not leave lots of comments and do lots of shares of this latest interview so that we might get the word out further.

A Two Post Day…. About My Poster

Good Afternoon everyone!

Today we have a two blog post day so if you have missed my video challenge blog then best you get looking for it and leave a comment after you have liked it….. 😉

I have decided that I cannot wait until Monday to share these two pieces with you so I simply want to get them out there as soon as possible so I have decided to break with my rule of one post per day and give you a second one to consider….

We have had the poster made up in A3 and the letter is on A4 size.

Let me know what you think of them and also where you think we might put them up.
I am thinking Slimming World and Weight Watchers meetings, Gyms, The Churchill Hospital (where I had my operation) The local Doctors Surgeries, Waitrose, The CoOp and Sainsbury’s supermarkets, Play Groups, Mother and Baby Groups, Village Halls, Business Park notice Boards, Post Office, Lamposts…. The list could go on. I am also going to hopefully have people take these into their places of work and put them up on their notice boards.

Trekking 170 Miles For Charity

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.

I hope today finds you feeling fresh and excited about all of the things you will get done during this glorious weekend. I know that I for one will be busy enjoying myself as much as I can both working, walking and relaxing.

Today I have for you some more charity related stuff and ask that you follow one of the following links and donate a little something to my cause or failing that, why not volunteer to walk some of it with me…. 🙂

But first I have the video of my latest appearance on TV so here’s hoping it makes some sense to you because I struggled for sure!

There’s Life In The Old Dog Yet

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet. Firstly I must start with a show of thanks for all of my kind birthday wishes yesterday, you are all very sweet to have acknowledged the Magnets birthday and for that I thank you.

Yesterday turned out to be a very enjoyable day even if it was a trifle busy. I started off with a good walk with Archie the Dog and although we didn’t make it to the Ridgeway we certainly put in some quick mileage which I enjoyed very much indeed even if I was two minutes 30 seconds off of my pace. I managed to walk just over 7 miles in just over two hours. I think I may have been quicker had Archie been more in the mood for moving at my pace but to be fair he did very well indeed.

So below we have the first screenshot of this year to show you what I managed to achieve. I know I have a long way to go still because today I am very tired and although I plan to go to the gym, it doesn’t feel like it will be as energetic a session as I might have hoped. Still that is what training programs are for I suppose… 😉

Happy Birthday To Me, Happy Birthday To Me….

Happy Birthday Dear Magnet, Happy Birthday to me!!

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to Planet Magnet on the day he celebrates his 48th birthday. Amazing when you consider he only looks a day over 47 😉

Just as well Warner Music are no longer allowed to charge for using those lyrics otherwise I could be down by almost £1000 going on what they have charged other well wishers in the past…. 😉

So anyway, yes today is my birthday so shall I put my feet up and relax, take a day to myself, go to the pub, treat myself to some new stuff on a shopping trip….? Nah! I’ve got much better things to do than that….!

I am going to be busy for the entire day.

First thing I shall be collecting my little mate Archie and taking him out for a few miles training up to the Ridgeway, then I shall go to collect my dear mother as I am to be taken out to lunch to one of my favourite local Gastro Pubs – The Boars Head in Ardington.

Well It’s Looking Like It Might Just Work….

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on…. Hold on, it’s not just ANY day, it’s Sunday! The weekend’s relaxing day is HERE! Time to throw off the chains of the week and get relaxing! Now personally, I have things to do as I need to help my friend with her house but I don’t mind at all because after my surprise trip to the theatre on Friday night I am good to go! Yes thats right, you heard me, I was taken to the theatre as a surprise. It was an early birthday present and a thank you for all of my help so far. We went to the Oxford Playhouse and watched a modern day Shakespeare styled play about Prince Charles becoming King. Very witty and very machiavellian so right up Shakespeare’s alley for sure!

You will be pleased to know that yesterday I went out for a walk and managed a good nine miles in just over three hours so that was pleasing to accomplish. I am most definitely a bit behind where I was before the Christmas break but not too far off. I still have the stamina to walk although it needs increasing. I was regularly walking at four miles per hour and that gave me room to breath at that speed however yesterday I found that slipped to an average of three miles per hour and although not out of breath found that my muscles were happy moving at that speed and not any quicker.

Planning, Planning And Planning Some More…

Good Afternoon world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet, sorry that todays offering is 1) Late and 2) Very light in content.

Reasons are simple.

Planning.

Planning.

And more planning….

A Plan of Action.

Today I have spent a great deal of it in a meeting with the lady who is helping me with my logistics for the walk and thus time has evaporated and continues to do so at an alarming rate of knots.

I know they say time flies then you are having fun but it is true. We are very much enjoying this planning stage but are both quite shocked at the magnitude of what we have yet to do in order for the whole thing to run smoothly, after all, I did say last week I have about 19 weeks before I head out from Ivinghoe Beacon at the top of the Ridgeway but that time will fly past as we all know so it is imperative that we get things organised and get things right!

Charity, Charity, Charity, Charity, Charity

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet. I trust today finds you snug and warm in thick socks and a warm coat. If not, then I hope  it finds you on the other side of the world, warming your bones 🙂

Charity.

Yes, that word is back and will continue to feature until I get the message out to you ALL that I will be asking you ALL to donate to the HENRY Charity and support me in my HENRY walk along the Ridgeway and Hadrian’s Wall.

I will, as many of you know, be walking The Ridgeway between Friday June 10th and Tuesday the 14th, resting on the 15th, travelling north on the 16th and commencing the Hadrian’s Wall leg of the walk on Friday the 17th, again completing it by the following Tuesday (the 21st). This will see me cover a total of 170 miles.

Now I am sure you will agree that this is a massive undertaking and one which I will most definitely need the support of all of my friends, relatives and blog followers to turn the walk into the massive success that it needs to become in order to raise the grand total of £10,000 for the charity.

For myself, I shall be training for the next five months by building up my walking stamina and working on my core strength so that I have plenty of stability to take me where I need to go as I travel o’er hill and vale, because you see we have those things in this neck of the woods…. 😉

So what do I need from everyone else? Well, I would obviously LOVE it if people chose to walk with me; and I would LOVE it if people could help out with the logistics of camping, food prep, waste removal, water provision, Archie sitting…. the list goes on and on. There is so much to work out for this walk because it is simply getting bigger and bigger.
Those of us already involved are getting excited so heaven knows what things will be like closer to the time. Hopefully there will be Television crews, there will be Local and National Journalism, there will be Local and National Radio and this will be on both walks, so that is down here and up there so imagine the logistics of getting it all sorted! Quite a headache for sure.
But it won’t be a headache if we can all pull together and I can start getting names on lists of those who are willing to help. I know there will be many of you who will want to join in the walking at the local part so that is a given, but it is going to be the start at Ivinghoe Beacon and the finish at Avebury where I shall also need you all. I will need the smiles and welcoming arms of friends to see me home at the end of the first leg. I shall also be needing help with the northern walk, again with logistics, again with company and again with the seeing me off at Bowness and welcoming me home at Wallsend. I would love for as many people to join me as we can possibly muster, because let’s face it, an opportunity to walk Hadrian’s Wall doesn’t come along too often so I figure this could be a chance of a lifetime, a chance to be involved in something great and something that could one day be looked upon as historic.

So yes, I am sure everyone is sick to death of Charity. Charity this, sponsor me that, aren’t I wonderful etc etc. Yes I also know that everyone is probably sick to death of Just Giving but really and truly (and this is the good but bad bit) everyone is sick to death of unhealthy children who no longer play in the streets, climb trees on the greens or run freely in the parks. Everyone of our generation dislikes the fact that these children are growing up obese because activity is restricted to Playstation and X Box whereas in our day it was Cocky-Alley-In and Football, Rounders, Athletics and IMAGINATION that kept us all fit, active and healthy.
So lets not be sick of the fact I am asking you for a little of your time, be grateful that you are able to offer it and help out safe in the knowledge that what you do WILL make a difference to a child’s life and WILL mean that they grow up healthy strong and fit.

Come on everyone, lets do something great, let’s walk for HENRY so that the next generation might simply be able to walk.

‘Till tomorrow,

Stay out of the fridge.

A Second Genuine Request To Read And Act NOW!

Good Morning World and a Happy Friday to you all!

Welcome to another day here on Planet Magnet and I hope this day finds you as equally happy, optimistic and as ready to go as it finds me. Today will see me experiencing quite an exciting day starting slowly with an appointment at the Churchill Hospital to monitor and give me a check up then ramping up as I travel up to Sloane Square in London, England to meet a plastic surgeon in order do some filming about excess skin after weight loss. This as ever is with Adina Campbell the BBC reporter so be sure to tune in tomorrow for more of that.

As you guys all know by now I spend my days writing nonsense in a bid to entertain, inspire and educate all who drop by this blog for a quick snoop at what is going on in my world. Some days the posts are funnier than others. Some days they are more poignant than other but regardless of this it is always just me and my keyboard coming up with whatever new idea I happen to have buzzing around my head at the time.
