Where Have You Been!!!

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet!

I trust today’s version of Tuesday finds you as up beat and optimistic as it finds me! I am in a good mood. Today I go to see the psychologist for my 6 monthly head check since my weight loss surgery and then I see the Bariatric team to discuss the next twelve months. I was actually supposed to do this just after the year anniversary in March but I had to cancel due to illness. However, today I am feeling fit and ready to go and therefore I shall attend and get all of the information I require about my bloods and heavy legs but I am feeling better day on day so am now looking forward to the walk and the future of my new business.

I know today is usually Tasty Tuesday but unfortunately I have not had time to prepare a new recipe. I also know that I had promised to give you part 7 of “Looking back” and that was supposed to be launched yesterday.

For these two fails I apologise. I trust you guys understand why and will always remain my WP Pals even though I have been telling little porkies…. đŸ˜‰

So then, my new business.

Well that to be honest has been the reason why I have not managed to post for the past couple of days and possibly the main reason why I am feeling better day on day. I feel as though I have a purpose once again that can dictate my future. Where I am in control and doing things I WANT to do and not HAVE to do.

Here Comes Another Winter, Waiting For Eutopia.

Waiting For Hell To Freeze Over*

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here in Planet Magnet. I trust all is well in your world and that the week is barrelling along nicely for you. Here in the U.K, the rain is back (what else!) after five days of sunshine, so having had our summer I figure we start preparing for the winter to come… đŸ˜‰

Only joking on that font guys, however, Heartland by The, The seemed like the perfect lyric to use given that when yesterday I spoke to a friend of mine (The Chimp from The Lonely Author) he suggested I write what my Eutopia might look like given that I am now over a year past my surgery date and the fact my life has changed so dramatically in that short period of time. That I have become such a different man over the past several years of trials and tribulations. That I am still scared and excited in equal measure of what is to come in my life. That I am surrounded by more love in my life than I have experienced for a long time, yet I feel lonely on a daily basis.

Now I should put a warning here, because if any of you are not in the mood for my truth then I suggest you stop reading now, plus it is nearly 2000 words long so you might struggle a little looking for a quick read….

I am always honest with this blog yet I do confess that am still selective about what I write and today I write exactly how I feel and make no apologies for it.

So where was I? Oh yes, my own Eutopia. Or put quite simply, where would my ideal life be at this moment in time?

I know it might sound fatuous to do such a thing but it is in our dreams that we create our future (or some semblance of it) and it is only by daring to dream do we ever achieve our ability to move on.

Writers Block… The Scurge Of Us All.

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet. I trust you all had a good weekend and things are now back to the Monday morning routine.

Yesterday (as you will probably already have worked out) I didn’t post. This was the second time this month I have gone absent without leave and can only apologise for anyone who was expecting yet another instalment on my ever-so fruitful life.

On Saturday I went to look at a van and after viewing decided to buy as I firmly believe it would be an ideal vehicle with which to start my new local handy man business.

Well We Are Still Waiting…

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.

Today sees the British weather back to it’s usual tricks with the sun a long forgotten memory as it has rained continually for the past three days. Still, nothing that we aren’t used to and if it does all of it’s raining this month then at least there will be no more raining next month when I am walking……

Yes that’s right.

You heard me correctly.

Although I am STILL waiting my appointments with both the Blood people and my G.P, I have decided that there will be a walk starting on June the 17th from Ivinghoe Beacon and I would love as many people to come along as can possibly manage it. It would be great if you walked a little way with me but I will understand fully if you simply want to wave me off whilst muttering “good riddance and glad to see the back of him” under your breath… đŸ˜‰

Tasty Tuesday Breakfast Omelette

Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet. Today the weather is not so good and the sun has not got his hat on but I am in good spirits and am trying to remain so as I look out of my office window at the grey clouds whilst dreaming of going to the shops and buying some shorts.

Yes that is right. I have NO shorts that fit me!

Obvious really when you think about it but not to me. I hadn’t even considered the fact that I would be a completely different size year on year and with the being the first year then this has to be the biggest change of all!

Anyway, enough of shorts and summer weather.

I must very quickly apologise for going AWOL yesterday and having nothing for you guys to come over and read . Pretty poor considering the weekend was also light on content.

Archie And The Worlds Biggest Fridge Magnet

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to another wonderful, bright and sunny day here on Planet Magnet.

I am having a lovely day so far having enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and a walk into the local town where I met a friend for coffee and afterwards, had a wander round the local market place which I am sure you will all agree is quite pretty.

A Short But Historical Stroll In The Country

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in on another Monday as we start our new week and begin to look ahead to all the great things it can bring us. But before we do that, I thought I would share with you a little stroll I took with Archie the Dog yesterday, to visit something call a Tithe Barn in Great Coxwell in Oxfordshire.

As ever, Archie and I did our homework first of all and found a nice Autumn walk that would take in the beauty and spender of this 13th Century barn, a barn which was actually at one point known to belong to the Cistercian Monks of Beaulieu Abbey.

A Sunday Stroll With Autumnal Tones

Good morning world and welcome to a new week here on planet earth.

Sorry for being a bit late on parade with this post but I had my office decorated over the weekend and therefore had no where to type until later last night, by which time I was absolutely shattered!

Still, we are here now so lets enjoy the Sunday Stroll together shall we?

Yes I know for some of you your working week may have begun a good while ago and for others, as this posts, you are still enjoying your Sunday evening…. but then that is the beauty of having a blog that stretches around the globe… đŸ™‚

So anyway, yesterday/this morning (delete as necessary) I decided to take a good walk now that I appear to have my energy levels back on the rise, so the dog and I did a circuit we have done a couple of times before but unusually we did it in reverse (which meant walking UP a killer hill) and we did the entire trip from and back to our front door rather than driving somewhere to leave the car and head off from there.

The Sunday Stroll – If You Go Down To The Woods Today…

So yesterday was Sunday once more and Archie and I wanted to stretch our legs. With decisions no currently being made about next years Charity Walk I felt we best make the most of our freedom to choose a flatter terrain (or so I thought…) for yesterdays walk and because of that we made our way to a place called Shotover Park near Oxford for a walk in the woods.

As you know we normally walk along the Ridgeway on a Sunday and this will continue again because I have decided on the dates of the Charity Walk now being early June (around the 6th) which should be the day after I hit 500 posts on this blog. This will be the day I start the 87 mile Ridgeway walk, a walk I expect to take me in the region of five days. I shall then complete this and immediately travel 300 miles north to Hadrian’s Wall (another famous walk) that stretches from one side of the UK to the other covering the 84 miles from Bowness to Wallsend and again aim to do this in five days also. The first walk I am thinking will be a great deal easier to manage as I am local to it and will have support locally to bring food and water and take away rubbish and the like. However, I am sure things will be different at Hadrian’s Wall as I currently have no real support there so may need to be a touch more self sufficient!

The Wayland’s Sunday Stroll

Good morning everybody and welcome to a new week where you can start the day with a little history lesson as I take you for a walk along my most favourite of places – The Ridgeway and offer you a touch of history as we do it.

The picture in the header is a professional picture of a piece of Neolithic history by the name of Wayland’s Smithy. It is a Long Barrow and Chamber Tomb dating from as far back as 3590 BC named by the Saxons who settled in the area over 4000 years after the original site was built. It was named after a Norse Smith God by the name of Wolund with ties to other Norse references. Please do read the Wiki link for more information.

The Ridgeway is part of a National Trail. Below shows Wantage to Avebury in detail for you to understand the trail a little better than my lame descriptions…!
