If You Don’t Ask, The Answer Is Always No

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.

I was listening to the radio yesterday morning whilst eating my breakfast before setting off to work, yes a Saturday and I yes I was once again working……. and todays title came up as a quote from a comedian who co presents on one of my favourite weekend radio shows Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio  . The comedian in question was a guy by the name of Alun Cochrane, where he is usually noted for his dry wit and quick observations I was surprised to hear such sage words on such a comedy driven show and it got me thinking……

After completing the first week of Fit Camp I can honestly say that I am tired and I ache but I am very happy about it because I have realised that I asked myself this very type question and I am pleased to say I was able to answer it with a certain  amount of pride.

The question I asked myself was could I get up at 5am each week day, go to the gym to work out, go on to do a days work where I am not only thinking on my feet but literally am on them doing a sometimes very physical job and then continue this for the whole week?

And the answer I am pleased to say was yes.

Most people when they read this statement will think it is a they may want to/have to verbalise to a parent or a partner, a boss or a co-worker. A question that is possibly uncomfortable to think let alone say aloud, a question that could make or break a friendship or a relationship of any kind.

As most of you know, I would usually put myself in this category. I am someone who can over think the most basic of situations and then raise loads of questions but never ask them in order to clear the issue up and then let them fester for no reason, so imagine how refreshed I felt to actually ask of myself:

“Can you do fit camp Cameron?”

Well week one is down and I guess that I have answered myself so far with a definite yes.!

And no, you guys aren’t the only ones who are surprised 🙂

If I am honest I am completely amazed at the fact I have risen each day and trained, I have drunk my cruciferous (green) smoothie, eaten a salad for lunch and had stir fry veggies most evenings. I have been good with my intake and mindful of my diet as a whole. I trained each day with a smile and enjoyed it more, the tougher it was (weirdo alert!!)

I even managed a fitness test yesterday morning and I don’t think I embarrassed myself too much either. I know that the test is only against myself but people watch and its only human nature to judge ourselves by others achievements even though only I shall know how much I have improved by completing the same test in another three weeks.

Another thing I have noticed is that after a couple of weeks of diet and a week of exercise I have finally started to shed some weight. It may only be 2 1/2 libs but its a start and its what keeps me going forward – that and being able to fit into my work trousers more comfortably each day I pull them on…..

So there you have it.

If you don’t ask a question of yourself, you will never get any other answer than NO.

So start asking and you will start achieving and as I always say to you at these times, if I can manage it, you can too….

‘Till next time, stay out of the fridge.
