Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.
Today sees the British weather back to it’s usual tricks with the sun a long forgotten memory as it has rained continually for the past three days. Still, nothing that we aren’t used to and if it does all of it’s raining this month then at least there will be no more raining next month when I am walking……
Yes that’s right.
You heard me correctly.
Although I am STILL waiting my appointments with both the Blood people and my G.P, I have decided that there will be a walk starting on June the 17th from Ivinghoe Beacon and I would love as many people to come along as can possibly manage it. It would be great if you walked a little way with me but I will understand fully if you simply want to wave me off whilst muttering “good riddance and glad to see the back of him” under your breath… 😉
This means that I am back on schedule and shall be walking as planned from Ivinghoe Beacon to Overton Hill over the week of June 12th to June 17th. This route as you know now is called the Ridgeway so I am very much looking forward to the fact I shall be taking this challenge on almost as I had anticipated but instead of camping along the route I shall now travel each day to and from each stopping point along the route.
This means that unfortunately this time around there will be no Hadrian’s Wall. I am quite sad about this but I have to believe that I shall manage to do at least one of the parts of the walk that I set out to do and if that is the case then I can always do the Hadrian’s Wall one a little later in the year and on my own timetable.
If I am honest I am not overly disappointed by not being able to do the two walks back to back because I think we must all make a decision at some point and then stick to it and again if I am being honest, this decision has been one of the hardest I have ever had to make as I had set my sights, goals and ambitions on managing to walk the two routes and camping along the way whilst trying to raise money and awareness for the charity HENRY.
I know that my writing of child obesity has gotten most people engaged and possibly a few of you thinking about what this world we live in is doing to the health of our future generations but I still feel like I have a long way to go to reach the world that I really want to reach. That is why I have taken the decision to do the first part of the walk as planned regardless of what the outcome of the Doctor and Blood Tests bring to my attention (obviously that statement must be said within reason, I mean, if the diagnosis is an immediate brain transplant then that might delay me a little…… 😉 ) so that we might continue to get the message out there. Now I don’t wish to come across a s a martyr because I am not but I want you guys to read this and if you haven’t already given the give now.
Don’t forget, it’s not for me, its for the charity.
So as the preparation for the walk ramps up, think of me fondly as I harangue sponsors, media and manner of people all in a bid to get the walk as funded and followed as I can.
Right then everyone, lets go for it!!!
Stay out of the fridge.
