Good Morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet.
Tasty Tuesday is here again and today with have a meal with a bit of a twist.
I didn’t actually prepare ANY of it, I simply cooked it and when I say cooked it, I mean I put it in the Oven and the Microwave and let technology do it’s thing whilst I took care of having a shower.
As you know I had been working all day as a Painter and Decorator and then at the end of the shift I had to take the guy who had helped out back home so that added another hour onto my day! That meant that by the time I got home it was nearly 8:30pm and the last thing I wanted to do was cook so I took a convenient yet still super healthy option and cooked myself something ready made from the local Supermarket.
As many of you know I normally shop in Waitrose but because it was after 8pm, unfortunately they were closed o I had to use their competition and so found myself wandering around the unfamiliar territory of Sainsburys but to be fair, after finding the meal I did, I am kind of glad this was the only shop open to me.
So after a 10 minute aimless wander around the store I found some Fishcakes (well if I am to be correct they were Crabcakes) and some amazing Greens in the shape of Asparagus tips, Broccoli Tenderstems and Peas….
Oh my word….
If this is fast food then why did I not know this years ago….?!!!
So I simply took the Crab cakes and placed them on a baking tray and whilst they cooked I had my shower. Once showered (approximately 18 minutes later as suggested by the Crab cakes) I returned to the kitchen and placed my Veggies in the Microwave in their Microwave cooking pot and pressed lay for a couple of minutes.
These came out piping hot, crunchy and super tasty and were the perfect compliment for the Crab cakes.
I am afraid that in my tiredness and my my haste I forgot to photograph the dish that was served up (not much point in photo’s of the food in the packaging then on the cooking tray….) so this is a first for Tasty Tuesday in as much as there are no photos. Now I know this must sound like a cheat and to some extents it is but the point of this post was to show that I can cook a conveniently pre-packaged meal and yet still enjoy it, safe in the knowledge it isn’t loaded with calories, salt, sugar or bad fats. The calories for the entire meal were 556, the fat content didn’t exceed 40% of my daily allowance and the salt and sugars were well within guidelines for the day.
Like I am always saying we can ALL eat healthily, even when we are naughty and don’t prep our food ourselves but buy straight from the fresh food section. It was that expensive either.
For the two of us to eat it was only £4.
Compare that to a Big Pounder burger and £4 won’t even buy one person a meal…..
Stay out of the fridge.
