Why I Do This.

Good morning world and thanks for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet. Thursday is here already and tomorrow the weekend starts. I have lots of work to be getting on with myself so am pretty certain the weekend will be a non stop affair with a great deal of pottering about. As most of you know I loves me a good old potter about. I get to shut the brain down and do things that bring me joy and ease my mental burden (although I’m not too sure which mental burden I currently carry will be eased….)

I also have long walk planned for one of the days as I feel I need to test myself at a slower pace, perhaps two and a half miles per hour, but for a much longer period of perhaps 6 hours. This will be equivalent to the walking day I will experience whilst on The Charity Walk. In this six hours I will cover the 15 miles required each day and it will be a gentle pace for my legs and body to cope with so that I will be able to get up the following day and do it all again.

So I do this training in order for me to be able to complete my walk and I complete my walk in order that obese children and their families might get the nutritional education that will teach them how to live a healthier lifestyle and thus live an much more enjoyable life.

Not a bad trade off don’t you guys think?

So I say it again, if I am willing to train nearly six days per week for four months and then walk 170 miles along some of Britain’s finest National Trails (I know, it’s a tough job πŸ˜‰ ) whilst camping along the way, not seeing my bed for a fortnight, then do you think it is too much that I ask you guys to help out with some kind of donations? Whether it be today, tomorrow or next month, just make sure it’s before the 8th of June because that way I won’t feel as though I am doing it on my own or for no good reason.

As I have said you guys can either pay direct to the charity on Just GivingΒ or you can make a cash donation to my Go Fund Me page – some very generous donations have already helped to buy some Walking Trousers (essential when doing the mileage I do as they stop irritation, keep me warm and offer unrivalled levels of comfort. You can also now actually make a definitive purchase of kit and things I will need for the trip. I shall be releasing a list at some point over the next week or so that will allow you guys to purchase individual items that I will need for the walk itself – including the training. These will be things such as a sleeping bag, waterproof trousers, waterproof coat, warm coat, water replenishment systems, spare walking trousers, walking tops, fleece jumpers, walking socks, cooking equipment, tent, torch, recharging systems….

As you can see the list is quite something and the costs soon add up. There is also going to be accommodation costs for the support team (I plan to sleep on the trails), food costs for me and the support team, food and drink costs for the children who join the walk, fuel costs for the two support vehicles…..

Due to the high costs involved I also figured maybe some people may want to “club together” and buy some of the bigger things. I wondered how this might happen until I realised it is something our wonderful WordPress community offers us due to the levels of close friendship we gain as members, we can simply speak with each other and make arrangements…..

Obviously there will be corporate sponsorships along the way that will offer funds to pay for the main percentage of the trip but as ever, I still need you guys to donate so that the next generations might not suffer from the same issues our ignorance and lack of knowledge allowed us to endure.

And that is why I do it.

‘Till tomorrow,

Stay out of the fridge.

Keep everyone informed and keep asking for support. People sometimes need to hear the words multiple multiple multiple times before their brains communicate the correct neuronal connections to the motor efferent nerves that innervate the muscles of the arm and hand to reach into one’s pocket, withdraw money, and extend one’s hand to another. In school, these connections seemed no different than any others, but in the real world, somehow these connections require greater encouragement! πŸ™‚
Keep up the good work my friend.

I shall most definitely keep plugging away because I totally agree with your sentiment, even though I would never have been able to put it quite as eloquently as this. For now though I shall simply continue to innervate the muscles to keep typing and asking over and over and over again… πŸ˜‰
