Good morning world and thank you for tuning in to another day here on Planet Magnet. Once again the weekend is almost upon as and as I have said before in a previous post, the world will keep on turning, the days will continue to be ticked off of the calendar and we will slowly edge farther away from who we were and closer to who we want to be.
What a sage piece of advice to start.
Maybe I should just finish there? Nothing more to add, wrap it up nicely in a bow and post it to the inter web….
Nah, let me make you suffer a little more by feeling obliged to read some more of my words of wisdom….. 😉
So to what end do I start, well the title says it all really. Taken loosely from the seven commandments of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, I think it must be agreed that to all intents and purposes, we are all created equal and it is a matter of both nature and nurture that dictates who we become and how we live our lives, who we love, what we look like and how we behave. When a child leaves the womb and joins the world kicking and screaming, not one person on this huge planet knows how this baby will grow, what they will become, how they will affect the world or if they will merely be a tiny footnote in the annuls of history. Yet we do not discriminate against that baby because at that point it has still not had a chance to show what it may become and how it may fulfil it’s potential in the world.
However as people grow and their personalities develop, and so their own intricate foibles develop. Their sexuality starts to take a leap toward it’s final resting place, their lifestyle and activity is managed by how they are treated and or encouraged. It is developed through role models, it is developed through imagery and it is developed through opportunity.
But it is at this last phase as we start to develop our own free will that we start to determine what we will be and how we will live our lives. Remember, you don’t need to have been born with a silver spoon in order to be successful, all you need is to be determined. Again, think of an athlete, there is a determination to keep going, to be the best and to win although the basis is there in their gene pool making them predisposed to a specific activity. Making them better at one thing than another.
Hence the fact that we are all created equal, some of us are just more equal than others. When we look at people in life it is quite apparent that some of us decide to take the opportunity to grasp life from the start, others like myself for example take a while to understand and get going and there are some that will never learn simply because they do not have the motivation to do so.
I would never say that I was one of the more equal than others but I believe that I have started to learn that by putting myself in this position everyday, I have become accountable to others. If I am considered a role model then so be it, I do not consider myself as such but if it is what others need then I am happy to provide that service. All I want is for people to understand that we are NONE of us any different to another and if I have been able to turn things around then I absolutely know that others can do likewise.
It has taken me a long long time to get to this point in my life and I am now determined to make myself even more like the person I truly wish to become. I know I still have a long road ahead and there will be bumps and potholes along the way that will try to derail me, but I shall deal with them as they come and I shall no longer say that I cannot, I can’t or it simply doesn’t work for me. My life is an experience that I have chosen to share with the world and in doing so I hope that I prove we really are all equal regardless of our personal thought processes, our personal beliefs or motivations.
Let’s face it, if somebody WANTS to lay on the couch all day and eat pizza followed by chocolate and red Coke because that is truly what makes them feel good, then who are we to say that they have not reached their full potential by doing exactly what they are doing because that is exactly what they want to do. In the same way that someone is desperately unhappy because they are trapped in a body they do not relate to, then it is up to them to make that first move and seek out help to deal with their issues but they should know that once they do and the help starts pouring in, they WILL be able to change their lives and start to become exactly what they want to become because at the end of the day we really are all created equal and if I can manage to get to where I am, then trust me when I say, if you are sitting at home and struggling with making a start because your end result all feels so far off in the distance, remember I was once there too and if I can do it, so can you!
‘Till tomorrow,
Stay out of the fridge.
Wise words indeed my friend, we are all equal in the fact that we are what we make ourselves. Although circumstances and others can effect our path along the waay and cause influence be it good or bad. At the end of the day it is one’s self whom is responsable for how we progress 🙂
Unless of course you are a pirate 🙂 Loved that image

Love this, Cameron. It reminds me of another post I read this week: it talked about imagining what your life would be like if you were free of all of your “issues” – like anxiety or fear or depression or a bad relationship or bad job. And then focusing on those things as your goals.
Great image, too – I love love love it.

Quite motivating. This shows that any one can reach a new potential given the opportunity and support. I believe completely in this concept. I also know many of us attempt to reach out to let people know we are available and willing to lend a hand and some guidance. I believe your story will resonate and inspire others to take the leap of faith. Well done.

What a motivational piece – yes, we all have a choice in our success even when people think they don’t. It’s like you have to make the choice every single day to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. I know you inspire so many of us to do more, be better versions of ourselves. Thank you for that!

Well that is very kind of you to say so. I think we all inspire each other and that is why I feel the love from all corners of the globe on WP. It is great that I have not been trolled or abused in any way not that I would be bothered but all I get is LOVE!
