Reports, Reports, Reports

After yesterdays post being such a hit with so many people and even with my own belief system, I am proving to be somewhat at a loss of what to write today to be honest. I could go on more about how brilliant I feel because of the embracement of my new life and opportunity. I could wax lyrical about the support I have had and the surgeons who made yesterday’s post possible but if I did I think I would be going over old ground.

Instead today I shall tell you that I am absolutely WORN OUT after my day of perpetual motion and would therefore ask you to read the exercise report stuff below my food diary. I know some of you usually do and some of you don’t but it is certainly worth a read today when you consider that five months ago I could barely walk up my stairs and yet yesterday I spent over two and a half ACTIVE hours in the gym.

One last thing before you reach the technical area, it was photograph time yesterday for my weight loss photo diary so expect them to be appearing very soon (the photographer still needs time to make my face half decent with the computer software trickery lest I scare you all away 😉 ) and you will get a good idea of how much change there has been to my body so far. I am pleased to report at this stage though, things are looking good (or so I am told 🙂 )

Yes, I know I had Quinoa Salad twice (lunch and dinner) but I love it so much it was not an issue; and I was also aware that it might go off if left in the fridge any longer. One thing you become acutely aware of once you are eating solid food after a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is the fact that you waste a TON of food, always throwing away what you can’t manage so when given the option to save and have another day or later, you jump at it if you like the taste!

So yesterday was the gym and boy what a gym session that was. I have to admit to being very weary by the time I actually left, but then I had been in there for 2 hours and forty minutes and I was active the entire time. A new record for the WBFM for sure! I started with my strength training:

  1. 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Abductor machine
  2. 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Adductor machine
  3. 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Abdominal Crunch machine
  4. 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Lower Back machine
  5. 3 x 30 Reps 25kg Cable Row
  6. 2 x 30 Reps 20kg Chest Press
  7. 2 x 30 Reps 30kg Pec Deck
  8. 3 x 30 Reps 20kg Tricep Pull Down
  9. 3 x 30 Reps 8kg (each arm) Bicep Dumbell Curl
  10. 3 x 30 Standing Oblique 20kg Barbell Twists (15 each side)
  11. 3 x 30 Standing Russian Oblique Weighted Bar Twists (15 each side)

And then moved onto half of my cardio session. After completing the stepper and the cross trainer I joined the body balance class and wearing my Polar H7, I realised why I was tired last week after the class because the hour long session burned off over 340 calories!

The entire session in the gym looked like this:

Unfortunately it only shows the calories from the personal bests of the day so the cross trainer and stepper (known as Other Indoor along with Body Balance) didn’t show up on this screenshot but the Body Balance did…

In the evening we went for a nice walk as the day was so nice and ended up covering a good circuit around the beautiful village of Ardington.

And ended the day in a pub garden where I enjoyed a cold refreshing pint of Thatchers Gold cider. My favourite!

All of this activity through the day gave me a quite excellent Jawbone Up2 reading of over 15,000 steps:

So a busy day all in all and I have to be honest, today I am already struggling and it is only 7.45am as I write this! I think a nice walk with the dog and a relaxing day will do me the world of good so I shall not train today as I thought I might, but revert back to form and make sure I have a rest day after two active days. Come back in the morning for more thoughts….

‘Till tomorrow,

Stay out of the fridge.
