The High Numbers. This was The Who’s name for a short spell in 1964 and although The Who bear no link to this post, I thought you might like to know this little piece of trivia…!
So why call today’s post “The High Numbers”? well, believe it or not this is post number 200 since I started a daily blog as opposed to setting up the site and setting it free on the world of cyberspace.
During these last 200 posts everything and nothing has changed. I barely resemble the person I was back in January when I started and in the same way I am also the same person, I am now just much more “out of my shell” and able to acknowledge what I am and aim to be.
I remember the operation on March 13th and it is crazy to think that I will soon have seen off six months since that big day. The operation was the turning point and changed me so much. It has helped me lose weight, get my life back and regain control of every day that I am going to be lucky enough to see.
Sure I have had some blips along the way, sure I have I had to change things in my life that were no good for me and worried about missing them having done so. I have had regrets about the operation, not many but definitely some in the early days until any regret passed when I started to see the results. I have worried about the side effects of the operation yet so far appear to have gotten away with it. I have changed my training regime numerous times but I have not yet got to the point where I don’t actually want to go. Life has changed both physically and mentally.
Yes, sometimes things have taken their toll on me and I have finally realised that this what life is all about, but in order to change we first need to effect change. This change can come from the smallest of alterations in your day to huge ones in your life but remember total change is about the aggregation of margins. Adding all the small things up makes a huge difference to life, to health and to well being. I never imagined I would ever feel as good as I do today but I do. This has come partly from the weight loss but also from the fact that the weight loss has free’d my mind and body to explore so much more with my life, each day making a new concession to my new lifestyle as I add a new part to my person and what I am becoming. Equally I have been happy stripping the bad away, the things that do not work for me, the things that I have held onto for many years that have only served to upset or hold me back. Yes I still have a long way to go and still have many foibles and failings to deal with before I am finally nearing my destination (a destination that in all reality will never come or should never come lest I have nothing left to aim for) and I can call myself a far more complete man than I would ever have imagined and even though this is a lifetimes worth of work I am looking at, I am perfectly happy with that thought.
Because after all, I want my life to be a marathon, not a sprint.

Not really the best choice of dinner meal especially after eating a Caesar Salad wrap for my lunch but as I mentioned in yesterdays post I was on the road pretty much ALL day. I learnt a lesson yesterday in as much as even though a Tortilla wrap has the ability to be a healthy option to a sandwich, I honestly could not believe that there would be so many calories in the wrap. But then when you consider it has many fatty ingredients including the sauce and the parmesan cheese shavings, I should really not have been surprised. Add that to the half a small portion of chips and you get an idea of the rubbish we are likely to eat when we are not prepared.
Yesterday was a rest day apart from the Tai Chi so there are no screenshots of the exercises as there were no real readings to make. The jawbone however got me over 4000 steps which wasn’t too bad considering there was very little walking with the afternoon spent messing about on the river!
So there will be more to view when you come back tomorrow as today I plan to walk a good distance whilst monitoring my heart rate and my steps via the Polar H7, Map My Walk and the Jawbone screenshots.
