On the first of the month and no returns….
So it’s Saturday once again readers and today the world is my lobster as Del Boy would have said. Since the start of my new training regimen, Saturdays for me have become rest days and so far I am enjoying them fully even if I find myself kicking my heels a good deal of the time.
To that end I think it is about time I got myself a hobby.
Now I know I could go for a walk or I could take myself off to the seaside for the day but invariably I would end up doing either one of these two things on my own and although I enjoy them, things like this are simply just nicer when shared. Plus I always try to get a good long walk in on a Sunday so if I was too active on a Saturday, it might impact on my walking plans for the next day.
So it has to be a hobby that has me totally immersed and involved in what I am doing to the point where I do not notice the time pass. I would like a hobby where I use my brain and hands and has something to show for it at the end. Unfortunately these things tend to cost money and that is something a struggling writer such as myself doesn’t have much of to hand, so to that end I must scratch my head and try to think of something I might enjoy and can afford to do.
I have therefore decided that I may look into starting a Tai Chi class (if I can find one that takes beginners and isn’t miles away!) Tai Chi has long held an element of fascination for me. I love the inner strength and tranquility it offers the pupil, mental calm and clarity of thought plus the general health benefits and stress management that can come from being able to study this ancient form of 12th Century Martial Art. I can only hope that I am capable of the movements required of the body without falling over and making a fool of myself.
Mind you, it might be a refreshing change to be that fool when there isn’t any alcohol in my system 😉

So the food was pretty good even with adding in the lovely Bulgar Wheat for a change of pace. All figures were good and nothing was over done which is good because there was very little activity all day long!
Yesterday however was a different story with my excellent walking pace and trip to the gym and as ever burning off many calories 😉
Initially the walk took me over to the sports fields where I was really able to stretch my legs (even if I did have to continually stop for the dog to catch up!) The Map My Walk screenshot ended as this:
As usual, this was followed up with trip to the gym where I also found it was the Vital Statistics day so out came the scales, tape measure and blood pressure monitor and the measuring began in earnest (tune back in tomorrow for the results 🙂 )
My exercise regime continues with the Cardio at the same pace and timescale followed by the usual strength training of high reps and double/triple sets depending on muscle group.

- 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Pec Deck
- 3 x 30 Reps 20kg Tricep Pull Down
- 3 x 30 Reps 8kg (each arm) Bicep Dumbell Curl
- 3 x 30 Standing Oblique 20kg Barbell Twists (15 each side)
- 3 x 30 Standing Russian Oblique Weighted Bar Twists (15 each side)
So happy with this as ever because it allows me to burn an intense amount of calories (over 1000)
Add these figures to the everyday Jawbone Up24 and I have to say that considering for whatever reason I was feeling tired, I think I still did myself proud managing to get in over 11,000 steps for the day:
