Okay guys, I’m afraid we have a super short post for you today as I wasn’t home until 1.30 am this morning after a very busy and long day out BUT one of the best day’s out I have had in a very long time.
As some of you may have read yesterday was a rest day that I had planned to spend at an Auto festival doing as little as I possibly could apart from looking at cars and having a picnic; and although the days entertainment at the park was extremely enjoyable and even though there were some very smart cars, to be honest we took the opportunity to sit in the sun and eat a picnic I had prepared earlier in the day from my supplies at home. This meant that not only was the picnic healthy, I also know exactly what was in every mouthful of the food we ate.
After the festival had finished we got back to the car after walking through the most lovely grounds of Lydiard Park. On the spur of the moment we decided to pop into an outlet centre where my friend found some shoes to die for that fitted the bill completely and couldn’t resist. I found a splash guard for my frying pan that I couldn’t resist and we both left feeling soooo happy (although I am fairly certain my friend had the better happy, happy joy, joy feeling out of the two of us… 😉 )
So after a little retail therapy we found ourselves heading for the cinema (to watch the movie Southpaw) and with a little time to kill, went for a bite to eat where she was able to prove to me that eating out from a standard fare menu needn’t be unhealthily as she opted for salmon and salad and I went for the Pasta Verde. This pair of health conscious nuts know how to party I can tell you….! So after the food we caught the movie and I have to say it was quite a brilliant one. Moving and poignant, uplifting and sad all at the same time. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
Now I find myself at home reflecting on the days events, I have to admit that I am growing quite fond of my new companion and find that sharing ones down time with another can be really good for the soul. I had promised myself an active rest day where I kept away from the gym and dog walking, relying instead on the natural course of the day to recharge my batteries as I went.
I am happy to say achieved it and along the way laughed, smiled, ate and shopped.
Just how every rest day should be 🙂

So, a relatively good day of food right up until I had the triple cooked chips for dinner! I did well though, I kept the portion small and the fat was completely drained from them with the help of super absorbent kitchen roll… 😉 The rest of the day was standard fare to be honest, some Beans on Toast meant that I had enough energy for the walk and the gym and then the Soup at lunchtime was replenished the spent carbs along with the recovery drink so all in all there was no guilt felt about the chips as I was very active through the day.
Yesterday was a total rest day so there is no dog walk or gym session to report on, however the Jawbone Up24 did show me as being quite the active guy with over 9000 steps which means that I must have covered some ground at the auto festival amongst my other excursions!
