Saturday is here and it is the weekend once again. The days and weeks just seem to be flying in at the moment and I sometimes almost feel as though I cannot keep up although I am sure that is just a state of mind (mind you wasn’t there one of those crazy clever scientists like Hawking or Einstein who said that time is actually speeding up?)
So if time doesn’t feel as though it goes as far, do you think maybe I had better make the most of what time I do have now I have the energy to use it?
Now I remember before my surgery, there is no way I would be happy to leave the house to do anything other than go somewhere I could sit and watch what was going on, be it the pub or an event. I would go as long as I didn’t have to walk anywhere. Certainly a good part of this was driven the damage to my back and my knee but a good deal of it was in my head and the fact that I was overweight. I was fat and got tired easily. I was fat and didn’t like to go out into the world and see other people because I would be convinced that someone would be watching me and making reference to my size and inability to get around even though now I am much slimmer and more active than I have been in over 10 years, I am sure that was not the case.
So today? Well today I am going to an Auto show that is spread over a vast country estate with exhibitions and stalls as far as the eye can see and I am sure I shall do my very best to get around as much of it as I possibly can and anything I don’t see will be simply down to a lack of time because this new persevering Cameron will do his utmost to achieve more every day than the day before.
I’m beginning to like this new Cameron, he appears to want to do much more, be much more friendly and out going and most of all just get “out there”…. 🙂

So Thursday was a good day food wise considering there was no gym to burn off the excess calories. Yes there was a little extra carbohydrate from the two Latte’s that were consumed (a double trip to Waitrose…naughty me….!) but not really anything to write home about. On the whole a good day I think.
Yesterday however was a gym day and saw me take my morning constitutional with the dog at quite a spritely pace even if I say so myself. Partly because it was raining and partly because after the previous evenings reluctance to get a wriggle on I felt it good for his lordship (Archie the Dog) to be pushed a little harder than the day before. This ended with us on some decent figures from the Map My Walk screenshot, especially after a particularly fast tune came onto the iPhone (Lethal Cut by Propellerheads) that made it impossible to go slowly right at the end!
After which was as ever, the trip to the gym for my new cardio work out (well newer in as much as it’s lesser but much more sustainable hard work 😉 ) followed by the usual strength training of which I am becoming quite comfortable with but not comfortable enough that I am not exerting myself at a decent lick and feeling the benefits of each work out:
- 2 x 30 Reps 30kg Abductor machine
- 2 x 30 Reps 30kg Adductor machine
- 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Abdominal Crunch machine
- 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Lower Back machine
- 2 x 40 Reps 20kg Cable Row
- 2 x 30 Reps 20kg Chest Press
- 2 x 30 Reps 35kg Pec Deck
- 3 x 30 Reps 20kg Tricep Pull Down
- 3 x 30 Reps 8kg (each arm) Bicep Dumbell Curl
- 3 x 30 Standing Oblique 20kg Barbell Twists (15 each side)
- 3 x 30 Standing Russian Oblique Weighted Bar Twists (15 each side)
The Polar H7 was then able to turn my heart rate throughout all of my exercises into an accurate calories burnt figure of 974 as shown below in summary:
So all told a regular active day with a good steps count of 11871 as backed up by the screenshot from the Jawbone Up24 App:
Today will see me taking a complete rest day so neither gym nor dog walk although as I said I am due to go out for the day to an auto show at a country park in Wiltshire so I shall wear my Jawbone and see how well I do with all the activity a day of walking around a car show will hopefully bring.
‘Till tomorrow,
Stay out of the fridge.
Good morning… It’s nice to be happy and wanna be active…enjoy the car show….kat

It amazes me how much you naturally want to do as you lose weight. For me, I had a FitBit HR pre-op and averaged a mere 2,500-ish steps a day (I have a home-based office that doesn’t help there) and now post-op with the same office and I thought the same routine I’m averaging 6,000 steps a day without even exercising. Strange how much you just naturally get up and move more without even realizing it. Well done, you!!

Thank you and also Well Done You!
It is quite amazing how much it changes us. Today I walked 13 miles in 4 hours. This was in appalling weather on difficult terrain. I got home worn out but happy and now after a couple of hours I recuperated enough to wonder what I shall do for the rest of the day!
