Thursday’s Blog – Post No 169

Morning everyone from all around the world, thanks for dropping by and giving my blog a quick once over instead of ignoring it and passing on to a video of some Cats jumping from plastic spiders or a Cockatiel dancing to Queen’s Another One Bites The Dust (although I have watched that one myself and it is quite excellent…)

But I digress, you are here to read my blog, so I had better get writing something worthy of your attention unlike that title, although with the blog currently at 169 posts I know you will agree it is quite an achievement since the tentative beginnings way back in January. In fact it was 6 months ago today that I started to put my blog together never imagining that since the initial build of the site and introduction pages explaining my story I would have still been writing a daily piece for you guys to read. Build of this site started on January the 8th and it was launched a week later on January the 15th with the first actual ‘Blogged Post” hitting your screens a mere 8 days later.

It is quite remarkable how this entire thing has grown after a simple recommendation to follow my progress through the journey of my weight loss. I initially thought I would start out and simply explain how I got to the point where I had gained so much weight that surgery had become the only viable option. This then grew to talking about my current situation which itself grew into a decision to blog on a daily basis about different subjects including my health and well being. I have now brought this blog kicking and screaming into its latest incarnation where I share my activities and my consumed food with you guys.

I do this because I find it makes me accountable for my actions. It means that I do not lie about having walked or not, I do not say I have been to the gym when I plainly have not and I ALWAYS write down what food I have eaten. I do this because if what I write doesn’t stack up with the stories I tell, you will see that I am a being conservative with the truth and you may begin to disbelieve all of what I write and no longer follow my blog so to be inaccurate would surely be shooting myself in the foot…

The blog has progressed over the past 6 months (I know, I really find that hard to believe as well!) but because it has progressed, so too have I. I am happier, healthier and just simply more alive than I have been in years (and if I am honest, maybe more alive than I have ever been in my life)

I feel I have to put my money where my mouth is so I write about my experiences and therefore really do learn from them because I reinforce my findings by writing them down for you to read. I know a great deal is down to the operation but as I have said many times before “Weight Loss surgery is only a tool, it is what you do with it afterward that counts”. Well I have embraced it and shared it and because of this blog and you guys, I have so far to date succeeded in turning my life around.

As Johnny Rotten* sang “Don’t know what I want but I know how to get it”** I too felt like this. I knew that once again being healthy would serve to improve my life but I had no idea in what ways it would until I had started to do so.

And now I have?

Well let’s let the good work continue and I honestly hope that the next 6 months continues to see me reinvent myself with a clarity and mindfulness that I could have never before dreamed of.

Food wise this day was pretty much what I would expect of an exercise heavy day. Complex Carbohydrates to fuel the body and plenty of protein to promote the healthy eating with the bulk of the fats coming from good sources such as seafood and seeds.

Yesterday however was not exercise heavy so there was no requirement to hit the same kind of Carbohydrate levels as the day before. The only exercise that was taken was a gentle walk with the dog so he enjoyed himself and we didn’t worry about marching to my beat.

Tomorrow I shall once again be back at the gym and walking at a higher pace so although I know my screenshots may not be all that exciting to you, they will certainly be more exiting than today’s 😉

    Bonne 6-monthaversary to you! It’s a tremendous thing you are doing and a tremendous achievement that you have gotten this far. As for the cockatoo … I’m sure John Deacon who penned the song must feel his life is complete now if he has seen that clip 😉

    Good Morning to you, rather its your evening, or night …..my morning…LOL I as you started a blog to be accountable to myself, able to put in words what I needed to hear myself saying…only after I was on here blogging for awhile I called my daughter and said what is this list of people and why are they visiting my page, I was a real blogging virgin, she explained that they were interested in what I had to say apparently, news to me..so my daughter talked me into tagging and blogging back to some of the people who have visited my site….and am I ever thankful for her encouragement….not that I am a shy gal…anything but…LOL I just never in a million years thought anyone would give a hoot what I was doing on here…but there are so many of us on this weigh loss journey and for me just reading how your doing as well as others had actually encouraged me to do better, be better, try harder….I have also befriended others with different issues in their lives….I find this, I was thinking a little community, but really its a vast community of many on the most parts, good people like my self just tryin to make a difference in our own life’s with a little help from my friends…LOL Namaste…kathy

      It really is a great community here on the Blogosphere as I call it! Everyone is allowed a voice and the rules are simple, if you don’t like it, don’t read it!
      I am glad you get something from the blogging too, I know it has made me a stronger person. When I am in the gym and think “maybe I’ll just do one set of this today and only 5 minutes on the bike” knowing that I would have to own up or lie to the people that read me each day is there very reason I push on through.
      Possibly a little daft, but it helps and we all need all the help we can get.
