As many of you who follow this blog and read my training schedule will know, today is a rest day from the gym and I shall only be taking the dog for a walk a little later in the day as I shall spend a good deal of it saying farewell to an old family friend who died the week before last, as today is her funeral.
Now I am not going to be downcast because she really wasn’t that type of lady. She was happy and easy going and a person on whom I could always rely should the need have arisen. I shall no doubt miss her as time passes but today I shall not let that cloud my thoughts because she will always be in my memory and in my heart. I suppose that is what you get for knowing someone ALL of your life (and I do mean ALL 47 years) they become like family.
And she was most certainly a second mum if you will.
I know the service will be in the church she attended every Sunday but I also know it will not be a sombre affair and will certainly not be a black tie and dark suit ceremony as we have all been asked to wear light coloured ordinary casual clothes as per hers and her son’s wishes. All I can say is I am glad to oblige because since this weight loss, the other thing that has been shrinking as fast as my waistline was the amount of clothes in my wardrobe that fit, so good old Aunty Stella is still looking out for me from the beyond, making sure I don’t have to spend money on a suit to wear just the once in order to honour her life.
Thank you Aunty Stella.
My wardrobe depletion has been touched on before but I honestly never realised just how bad a situation it would get to. I currently have three pairs of jeans and only one now fits properly. I have two shirts that fit although one I am yet to slim into properly. I have three Polo shirts of which two are a little on the large size and finally there are three pull overs. None of which are now the correct size. Don’t even get me started on my outside coat…..
However, this is not the disaster that some might think. Yes I have bought a couple of bits along the way (and pretty much slimmed out of them already) but I really do not plan on spending money replacing my clothes each time I drop a size. No, I shall try this mix and match idea where I simply swap bits around and “accessorise” with different shoes, socks and fancy underwear (I have to admit to having had to buy the new pants a couple of days ago because the alternative of big pants was simply too much to bear 😉 ) mind you quite how my underpants will help with accessorising is a plan I have yet to formulate even if they are very fancy pants…. 😉
So in all I shall be happy next year when I have hopefully reached a target weight that I can stick to and am able to invest in an outfit for each occasion. Until such times I shall be quite happy making do with far fewer clothes than normal and I know one person who certainly won’t mind what I am wearing when I pay my last respects to her.
My Aunty Stella xx.

The carbs on this occasion were higher than the protein but given I was training and walking on the day in question I knew this would be the case as I have decided to increase the morning carbohydrate levels with good low G.I complex carbs that are not as refined and take a good deal longer to break down, thus giving a slower energy release.
As yesterday was the second day of my two day schedule, I was up early to make sure I took on my calories and complex carbohydrates in order to be ready for the training that I was going to undertake.
The day was set to start at the gym at about 9.15am but after an unexpected interruption it was rescheduled until after the walk with my friend and all of the dogs (including little Humphrey himself). To be honest this is actually a better time for me as I prefer to train later in the morning anyway.
At the gym I was again able to manage the 30 minute cardio fitness where I monitored my heart rate and noted the calories burned in the 30 minutes. After this I went on to my new usual weight workout.
- 3 x 30 Reps 25kg Abductor machine
- 3 x 30 Reps 25kg Adductor machine
- 3 x 30 Reps 30kg Abdominal Crunch machine
- 3 x 30 Reps 30kg Lower Back machine
- 3 x 30 Reps 25kg Cable Row
- 3 x 30 Reps 20kg Chest Press
- 3 x 30 Reps 20kg Pec Deck
- 3 x 30 Reps 20kg Tricep Pull Down
- 3 x 30 Reps 6kg (each arm) Bicep Dumbell Curl
- 2 x 20 Standing Oblique 20kg Barbell Twists (10 each side)
- 1 x 30 Standing Oblique 20kg Barbell Twists (15 each side)
- 2 x 20 Standing Russian Oblique Weighted Bar Twists (10 each side)
- 1 x 30 Standing Russian Oblique Weighted Bar Twists (15 each side)
As said Archie and I had our plans changed so we set off to meet our friends (mine and his) to once again walk around the area we walked yesterday as the dogs enjoyed it so much. Even little Humphrey the puppy who has now had all of his jabs was allowed to walk with his owner keeping him in check with the aid of a new fangled fancy extendable lead built for puppies. Mind you he wasn’t always walking, getting tangled all to easily in the other dogs legs and then nearly decapitating one as he tried to run straight through the carnage of the tangled lead!
The Map My Walk screenshot took us along some beautiful sights where I actually took some pictures last weekend in Another Sunday Strolls On….
This gave me an overall Polar calories burnt reading of 976:
And a Jawbone reading of a not too shabby 9,258 steps
All in all a good days activity and enough to make me appreciate my rest day today all the more 🙂
‘Till tomorrow,
Stay out of the fridge.
Same here – not wanting to invest much in the different sizes but look forward to buying a nice wardrobe when it’s time.
