Welcome to the weekend.
Unfortunately the forecast in this neck of the woods isn’t looking too hot (literally!) so I hope the weather is a touch less inclement wherever you may be situated around the globe.
Sometimes when the weather is like this I can be faced with a feeling of a touch of boredom but I try to find things to do which are both healthy for me and productive. For some reason I have lost my writing Mojo so will be glad when that comes back to visit because I do feel a little lost when I am wordless.
Last night was not a wordless occasion though, last night I was a member of Team Chaos in a local fund raising Quiz Night and although reluctant to attend at first, it turned out to be a fun evening with friends, old and new. Much was learnt during the evening even though we often said the immortal “Eh?” and “Well that’s obviously wrong!” when given the answers 😉 Still, it was for charity and the main aim of it was to raise money and have a bit of a laugh. I cannot say where we came in the quiz because I am fairly certain that the calculators couldn’t actually fathom a score quite so low. Suffice to say, I doubt very much if we will be mentioned in dispatches.
So job done.
Something else I learned yesterday was that taking your supplements with a cup of tea in the morning can reduce their effectiveness, especially the absorption of certain minerals including Iron, but taking them with 150mls of fresh Orange Juice actually increases the absorption effectiveness. I suppose this is the same with any kind of tablet so do take note readers, the Tannin in our tea works against us when we are taking tablets at the same time.
So anyways, onto my diet. Today I am officially 3 calendar months on from my operation. Quite incredible to think as the time has flown by and the weight has on some weeks fallen off and on others remained the same. There appears to be very little rhyme or reason as to why this is but to be honest, it matters not because everyday is better than the last as I improve my fitness, increase my walking ability and generally just feel better.

Regarding yesterday’s exercise, well there was none. Unfortunately a close family friend died and although it was expected, it still kind of took the wind from my sails a little. Maybe the exercise would have done me good but I kind of felt numb to the thought of it and had very little motivation. I am a little annoyed at myself for feeling like this because I am sure the lady who died would probably have told me off at me for not getting out and continuing my good work and exercising! But unfortunately I couldn’t feel like it after the early morning news and kind of slipped back into my shell as the day progressed, only going to the quiz at night because I had made a promise to drive. Today however is a new day and I feel brighter and back on track so will be forging ahead in the fitness once again after the new regimes false start.
As for my fitness, this once again raises the question of monitoring and I have decided I really do need to get hold of a Suunto GPS watch and heart monitor. This will monitor my spent energy all the way through my walks and gym sessions and give a quantifiable reading when linked to the computer and sync’d with the Movescount app. Now seeing as getting hold of one of these units via this site drew a blank, I shall simply have to save up and buy one so keep an eye open for my next technology review which will becoming just as soon as I can afford the new equipment 😉
Stay out of the fridge.
