Breaking Bad…

Habits.

That is the name of the game when you want to lose weight.

Simple as that.

Or so they would have you believe.

Buy this one simple pill and it will cure all of your cravings.

Eat this special food every day and you will lose pounds.

I now know that the only thing that works is hard work such as food diaries, learning new recipes, understanding what you eat and drink and exercising your mind and body so both feel healthier.

After all we all know that old habits die hardest of all; and the oldest is looking at the picture on the label and not the contents, because if we did I guarantee 50% of what we pick up in the shops would never make it into our baskets.

A prime example of one is me with this bottle of drink.

To look at, its just some Lemon and Lime juice squash, ready mixed for your convenience, but if you look closer, it’s just a trip to the sugar factory.

It really is an easy mistake to make. We look at the picture and think “Yeah, that looks healthy, I mean after all, how bad can it be? It’s only Lemon and Lime squash” Well the answer to that is in the food diary below because I myself picked one of these up a couple of days ago and was astounded to find what it contained after I had drunk it. Always the way, eh? I mean, something that calls itself a “spring water quencher” cannot be that bad, I mean it’s got spring water in it….

NO!

It is Sugar and Carbs mixed with water.

Never again.

So this advice will be something I shall take forward with me and try to pay attention to when I am shopping because it is a simple thing to fail at and all we need do is look a little closer before we buy.

Gym and walking as ever were as follows.

My session in the gym was the same as usual but without the leg raises or calf raises as I was running out of time and had just walked prior to my gym session.

  1. 3 x 15 Reps 25kg Abductor machine
  2. 3 x 15 Reps 25kg Adductor machine
  3. 3 x 15 Reps 25kg Abdominal Crunch machine
  4. 3 x 15 Reps 25kg Lower Back machine
  5. 3 x 15 Reps 15kg Cable Row
  6. 3 x 15 Reps 20Kg Chest Press
  7. 3 x 15 Reps 30Kg Pec Deck
  8. 3 x 15 Reps 15Kg Tricep Pull Down
  9. 3 x 15 Reps 5kg (each arm) Bicep Dumbell Curl

Again these were done in a quick but correct fashion so as to maximise heart rate but efficient lifting with none of the cheating that leads to injury.

And that was the end of a busy day after I had come home, done some odd jobs and then cooked a completely made from scratch soup I have called Chilli Chicken soup. I had no recipe to follow, just a few ingredients and by golly, you know what? It must have worked because it is gorgeous!
