Something Tells Me I’m In To Something Good

Back to normal blogging today. No more recipes now until Tuesdays offering, which I am sure you guys will love as much as I do even if it is only for the ease of its preparation and simplicity of its design.

Yesterday the sun came back out to play and so I did my usual walking with the dog in a bid to keep myself active, after which I went to the gym and followed my regime once again. No slacking here unless there is a medical issue so I honestly feel like I am breaking the back of it somewhat (please excuse the pun). I am still keeping my food diary for your amusement so that you can see I keep on track and no matter how much I may dream of a big tasty juicy burger and fries, I simply have no desire to go there, let alone the ability to eat one.

Now the title of todays’ blog “Something tells me I’m into something good” is taken after hearing the song on the radio (Herman’s Hermits if you were struggling to remember) and it got me thinking that maybe, just maybe I am beginning to look at this way of life as a good way to live life. I know some days will be better than others but that is the same for everyone in every walk of life. We must all of us play the metaphorical hand we are dealt and get on with it but I am living proof that change can be made. For example, I was never really one for enjoying walking until I couldn’t and after my back injury I only went to the gym reluctantly, but things are appearing to change with some kind of on-board guilt kicking in if I don’t actually do any activity when I had promised myself that I would. It is almost as if a seismic shift has started to occur in my psyche and I am feeling much more motivated and driven than I have in a long time.

Instead of feeling that the world is against me (trust me, this can be the default setting of the morbidly obese with mental health issues) I can now look at the positives of life and follow the example of the below quotation.


Now I don’t usually live by quotes but as you may recall, a couple of years ago one struck a chord with me “All that we are is the result of all we have thought, the mind is everything, what we think we become”. I am almost positive, if this had not been discovered when surfing the net for positive reinforcement, I would not have been here at this stage today. I know that is a sweeping statement to make and I know there may well have been a different quote that piqued my imagination but it really is honestly how I feel. I have never lived by quotations from wise people and am not really a fan of random pick me ups posted on social media, however in my case this one appears to have helped to get me where I am today and that can only be considered a good thing.

Now the reason why I have a new quotation in my blog today is because after reading it on another bloggers site, it has kind of stuck with me and moved around my mind (thanks Aubrie!). I suppose in my case it can be allied to the catastrophic thinking that I write about, as in if something goes wrong in our life or just our day, it is usually the diet we kick to the curb first and go on a binge in a bid to feel better. However, if we take anything from this quotation it is that just because things aren’t going our way we can still try to be the best person we possibly can and our diets can be the one good thing that comes out of our day if we can simply put the issue behind us and move on continuing with a healthy lifestyle that is so much better for us.

Remember, there will always be external forces acting on us, every minute of every day and if those forces don’t have our best interests at heart then there is no point is worrying about things we cannot change. We must only do what is right and proper for us and make Us the something good in our day.

So I think things are heading in the right direction folks. Maybe it has something to do with the sun shining maybe it is just to do with my new found self, either way, I’m not really that bothered so any neigh sayers can put that in their pipe….
